Reports - low FLO access levels

FLO reports can inform you about student activities during your topic, which can inform future practice. They are one aspect of learning analytics.

Students with low FLO access levels (inactive users) can be identified through the Participants page in your FLO site. 

  • The Participants page lists all users enrolled in your topic (including students with suspended / not current status) and indicates in days and hours when students last accessed the topic.
  • The filter can be used to search for students who have not accessed the topic for a set period of time (1 week, 1 month etc.) based on their status (Active vs inactive) and role (Student).
  • Once filtered, inactive students can be contacted through FLO messaging or you can download the data in Excel obtain their email addresses for sending a personal email

How to find inactive students

Access the Participants link in the Navigation menu (left of your screen).

  • Your participants page will appear

Using the filters at the top of the screen, select: 

  • Match = All
  • Select = Inactive for more than (and determine the appropriate timeframe. 1 week, 2 weeks)
  • Add Conditions
    • Status = Active
    • Roles = Student

  • Clicking Apply filters will give you a list of all students who are active (enrolled) and who have not accessed the topic since the time selected.
  • You can then select all of these students using the tick box function (at the top of the table).

Contact inactive students

The With selected users menu (bottom of the table) allows you to either: 

  • Contact students directly using the FLO message system (With selected users = Send a message)
  • Download the list (With selected users = Download table data as Excel) and bulk email (BCC) the students using your email app. Another option is to use mail merge to generate a personal email using the student's first name.
