Message from the Vice-Chancellor: Postal survey on same-sex marriage
by Flinders University - Friday, 15 September 2017, 3:35 PM

Now that the High Court has confirmed the postal vote on same-sex marriage can go ahead and people have started receiving their surveys I would like to remind all students who are eligible to do so, to participate fully in this democratic processes so your voice is heard.

For my own part, I will welcome the opportunity to register my longstanding support for same-sex marriage and trust that Australia will soon eliminate this particular form of discrimination.

Whatever your personal views on this issue it is so important that the debate be respectful. I would like to remind students that anyone feeling adversely affected by the wider debate on the plebiscite can seek support through the University’s Health and Counselling Services.

Yours sincerely

Professor Colin Stirling

President and Vice-Chancellor
