- What professional development may you require over the span of your working life?
- How might you tap into professional development beyond the workplace?
We will begin this topic with these questions, to get you thinking about your professional role and how you could develop over your working lifespan.

The skills required for the workforce are developed throughout your time at University. These skills come from your academic study, employment, placements, involvement in the community and life experiences, to name just a few. (Flinders University)Start exploring and challenging your ideas about this topic/subject. The resources below will help you to expand on your initial knowledge and question your ideas. Don't take anything for granted! At university, you need to back up your ideas with evidence or facts, and respond to others' ideas in the same way. So get into the habit of thinking about what you think and why you think it! Explore resources on critical thinking to help you with this process. You will have plenty of opportunities to practice in class and online.
A provocative thought for this week is: We co-construct our view of the world. Therefore its up to us to think the way we want the world to be.
Important! Remember to prepare for the workshop in week 3 by selecting three resources on professional development to explore in depth.
