Some staff and students have reported receiving a phishing email to encourage them to validate their Flinders’ library account. The email’s title is “Library Account” and gives the impression that it is sent by Richard Constantine. The email is fake and contains a link to a malicious site aimed at stealing user FAN credentials.

The threat has now been neutralised by Information Technology Services and further information can be found at:https://www.flinders.edu.au/its/information-technology-services/about-us/ict-security/latest-phishing-email-advisories.cfm

If you have received this phishing email, please go-ahead and delete it. However, if you already clicked on the malicious link and entered your FAN credentials, please follow the below steps to reset your password:

  1. Go to the Flinders University website
  2. Navigate to the top right-hand corner and in the search box type “FAN”
  3. From the Search results click “About my FAN” title.
  4. Next, click “Changing Your Password” and follow the instructions.
