Action required - activate Multi-factor Authentication to log in to Okta
by Flinders University - Thursday, 26 September 2019, 11:47 AM

Flinders takes the security of FAN accounts very seriously. To provide added security to FAN accounts for your own identity protection and for the protection of sensitive University information, Flinders is introducing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for all student FAN accounts.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a Flinders account verification method that uses a smartphone app (Okta Verify or Google Authenticator) to occasionally ask you to verify your login to Okta. As the login requires not only something you know (password) but also something you have (your mobile device), it makes it difficult for hackers to login to your account even if your credentials get stolen.

MFA will become mandatory from December 2019.

You can enrol your device for MFA now through the Enrol Multifactor icon on Okta. After November, you won’t be able to sign in off campus without MFA enabled. For more information see the
MFA webpage.
